Manchester United winger Gabriel Obertan is a target for Newcastle United.
Toon boss Alan Pardew is in the market for a new wide-player and has revived interest in Bayer Leverkusen's Tranquillo Barnetta.
The Shields Gazette says Frenchman Obertan is also under consideration.
Sources in the North West have confirmed the club's interest in Obertan, who has failed to make an impression at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old joined Man United after starring for France's Under-21s in the Toulon Tournament.
However, Obertan's career at club and international level has stalled since his £3m move from Bordeaux.
