Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer says he understands why Kevin Keegan walked away from the job earlier this season.
"If players were bought without his knowledge he was right to do what he did," Shearer told BBC Radio Five Live. "That seems to be an on going trend in our league. The least a manager asks is to run the football side of his club. It is his neck on the line.
"He is the one who has to have the say on players. In those circumstances Kevin was right to do what he did."
