Wolfsburg's Germany under-21 international striker Ashkan Dejagah is being tracked by Newcastle United.
The Evening Chronicle says Dejagah is being lined up as a potential replacement for Toon captain Michael Owen.
The Tehran-born striker has emerged as a United target after director of football Dennis Wise saw him play against the French under-21 side in Metz a fortnight ago.
