Newcastle Jets set to sign Kasey Wehrman

Newcastle Jets are reportedly set to sign former Australian international Kasey Wehrman.

The 32-year old central midfielder has been in playing in Norway for the past eight years with Moss FK, Lillestrom, Fredrikstad and FC Lyn but it looks as though he will return home to take up an offer from the Jets.

Wehrman began his professional career with the Brisbane Strikers in 1995 where he won a National Soccer League championship before moving onto the Perth Glory in 1999.

It was in 2001 that he embarked on his European journey, moving to Norway, and remained there until his contract with Fredrikstad expired following his loan deal with Lyn.

Many A-League clubs have been interested in Wehrman for the past couple of seasons and he was even linked with a move to English club Preston North End but it seems as though the Jets have won the race for his services.
