Newcastle United are in contact with Andy Carroll about a return to the club.
The 30-year-old is a free agent after being released by West Ham earlier this summer.
He was sold by Newcastle on Deadline Day in Jan 2011, for £35m, which was then a then British transfer record.
Newcastle could sign him after the window closes at 5pm due to the fact he's a free agent.
Sky Sports says Carroll is receptive to the idea of a return to St James' Park, and would be willing to take a pay cut to fit into Newcastle's wage structure.
