Newcastle United icon Malcolm Macdonald says Andy Carroll still has a lot of work to do to refine his game.
SuperMac is delighted Carroll will make his England debut tonight.
But he also told the Daily Mail: "The best thing he can do is not allow people like myself, Alan Shearer and Jackie Milburn to be a threat. He has to give himself impossible targets but believe he can achieve them. He has tremendous potential and he is improving all the time, but he has to be a lot more mobile and look to drag defenders around.
"I have only seen one striker play the game by standing still since the Second World War. That was Jimmy Greaves and everyone who has tried it since has failed. Andy has the potential to be a very good centre forward, but he needs complete focus on his football."
