Newcastle United caretaker boss Chris Hughton admits they're pleased to have seen off Tottenham's interest in goalkeeper Steve Harper.

"We're delighted to have Steve a the club," he told the Evening Chronicle.

"I can understand the interest from Tottenham, and anybody else, because what you have in Steve is somebody who might not have had the hours and minutes on the actual pitch that perhaps others have had, but he's a very experienced goalkeeper."
