Newcastle United fullback Danny Simpson has welcomed interest from Reading.

The Daily Mail says Simpson has been on the radar for QPR, Fulham, West Ham and Norwich but is intrigued by Reading's ambition and helped by the fact former team-mate Danny Guthrie joined last week wants to speak to manager Brian McDermott.

The Reading boss has a good relationship with Alan Pardew and may have to ask a favour on the fee to get a deal done but has alternatives with QPR's Luke Young also being mooted.
