Newcastle United fullback Jose Enrique is eyeing a Spain breakthrough this season.
Enrique's path is blocked by Joan Capdevila, ironically the left-back who took his place at Villarreal before he left for United.
But at 32, Capdevila is not one for the future and Enrique still feels he has his best years in front of him at just 24.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "To play for Spain now is a privilege - it's the best team in the world.
"They won the last World Cup, of course, but I haven't given up hope.
"But the most important thing for me is to stay with this team in the Premier League.
"I really happy, because this team has earned the chance to play in the Premier League."
