Newcastle United goalkeeper Rob Elliot has apologised to the fans following the Magpies' 3-0 loss against Everton on Wednesday night.
Despite spending lavishly during the January transfer window, Newcastle's fortunes on the pitch have not improved much and the Magpies recently were cast aside by the Toffees at Goodison Park in their midweek encounter.
Newcastle put up a terrible performance on Merseyside and Elliot has gone on to acknowledge this fact by saying sorry to the Toon faithful.
Elliot said: "I can't speak highly enough of our fans. I can only apologise that we didn't put in the performance we should have done.
"We will do everything we can to put it right for Saturday but we do need to look at our away form; it's something we need to address.
"Performances prior to this haven't been as bad as results have suggested, but we need to find something to get us going away from home. We have to hold our hands up about that."
Newcastle will look to bounce back when they host West Bromwich Albion at St James' Park on Saturday.
