Newcastle eyeing Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost

Newcastle United are keen on Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost.

The People says the Magpies have a long-standing interest in the 6ft 4in giant - and Nicklas Bendtner's move to the Volkswagen Arena from Arsenal this week could free up the leggy hitman to make a move to the Premier League.

Dost, 25, switched to Germany from Dutch side Heerenveen - where he had a prolific strike-rate, notching 45 goals in 66 games.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has made no secret of his desire to add another forward to his collection at St James's Park and Dost, with a price tag of £8million, would not break the bank.
