Newcastle United are eyeing Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld.

Toon boss Alan Pardew is seeking a new centre-half signing this summer and has Belgium international Alderweireld under consideration.

Newcastle chief scout Graham Carr has been impressed by Alderweireld this season while checking on his senior teammate Jan Vertonghen, who is subject of an offer from Tottenham.
