Newcastle end Fury's winning run

North Queensland Fury's run of form has ended at the hands of a resurgent Newcastle Jets this afternoon. Newcastle Jets 2 (Thompson 55, Bridges 85p) North Queensland Fury 0 Crowd 6,271 Venue: EnergyAustralia Stadium The Jets dominated proceedings throughout and were deserving of the three points against a Fury side which needed some great saves from keeper Paul Henderson to keep the scoreline respectable.

The win takes the Jets off the bottom of the table at the expense of the Fury, which had won two matches in a row coming into this match.

The Fury had minimal scoring opportunities, with captain Robbie Fowler having a quiet match.

The goals for the Jets came from a 55th minute strike by Matt Thompson goal and a late penalty to English striker Michael Bridges.
