Newcastle United are reportedly on the verge of signing Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan.
The Mirror is reporting the Magpies' original bid of £11million has been turned down, although Toon boss Steve McClaren is understood to be confident of completing the deal with an improved offer.
Bordeaux appear to be resigned to losing the Uruguayan and are understood to have already commenced a search for his replacement.
Rolan has scored 17 goals in 61 matches for the French outfit.
