Borja de Matias is set to be confirmed Newcastle's chief scout for South America.

De Matias will join Newcastle after leaving Sporting Gijon, says El Comercio.

He also has worked with Alaves and Chicago Fire and will report to Newcastle technical director Dan Ashworth.

De Matias joins an ever expanding scouting team being put together by Ashworth.

Eddie Black recently joined as lead academy scout, following the likes of Paul Midgley (head of youth recruitment), Paul McLaren (head of national youth scouting), and Delroy Ebanks (lead academy scout in the south).
