Newcastle United have lost defender Fabian Schar for the 'next few months'.

The Switzerland international was stretchered off in the win over Southampton after tearing his knee ligament.


Schar is out of contract this summer and may have now played his last game for Newcastle.

"I felt really good on the pitch and the team did well the last few games," he said. "Now I will be out for a few months.

"I will try everything to be back on the pitch as soon as possible."
