Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune is enjoying his football at Alaves.

Lejeune is again playing for Pablo Machin, having also worked with the Alaves coach at Girona.

He told Marca: "The most important thing for me was to regain the confidence of the coach, enjoy continuity on the field and feel happy. When a coach like Machín calls you, it is always more important to make the decision to come to Alavés.

"I am very happy to be back in Spanish football and things are going well for the moment. Hopefully they continue like this all season."

On his time at Newcastle, Lejeune added: "The Premier is very different from the LaLiga. It is a more physical football and the rhythm is also higher. I learned a lot with Rafa Benítez. It was the person who signed me.

"It made me grow tactically and physically. Now I think more about things in games. Benítez had a crazy experience and I absorbed everything he said to me."
