Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett is confident Matty Longstaff will pen new terms.

Longstaff is now in talks over a six-year deal following his dream debut.

Dummett said: “He'll probably have the same thing that happened to me.

“I signed the contract quite soon after that game and the club will be looking to tie him down as quickly as they can — because they know how much of an asset he can be.

“He fully deserves that. So hopefully they can agree on something and we can have him here for a long time."
