Newcastle United defender Dan Burn is not shying away from the possibility of going to Qatar with England.
The left-back has been outstanding for the Magpies since the injury absence of Matt Targett.
Now with Ben Chilwell out injured, and the fitness of other full-backs in doubt, Burn has emerged as an option for coach Gareth Southgate.
"I'd be surprised," Burn admitted in an interview with Sky Sports about going to the tournament.
"But I do think that there's not many left-sided defenders playing as well as I am at the moment.
"I can play two or three different positions, whether that's wing-back, full-back, centre-back, or left of the three.
"I'm disappointed for Ben [Chilwell]. I think it's a horrible way to miss a World Cup, hopefully the scan will come back not as bad as it is. I'll probably never be able to play left-back as well as him, but I do think I would bring something to the squad."
