Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is eyeing Real Madrid midfielder Sergio Canales.
The Daily Mail says the 20-year-old attacking midfielder was bought by Real from Racing Santander ahead of Manchester United, City and Arsenal but has failed to make an impact at the Bernabeu and is available for a season on loan.
Pardew has already completed deals for Sylvain Marveaux, Mehdi Abeid, Yohan Cabaye and former West Ham striker Demba Ba, and is now keen on adding Canales to his ranks.
However the former Irons boss will have to fend off interest from Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Everton along with newly-promoted QPR.
