Newcastle United caretaker boss John Carver is set for talks with managing director Lee Charnley over his future.

The Magpies' caretaker manager and managing director are due to talk before the squad fly out to Dubai on Sunday evening for warm weather training.

Carver revealed: "I will get an update (about his position) after the match. I'll have a conversation with Lee before we go away." He added: "I haven't spoken to Mike but I had a good conversation with Lee. It hasn't changed. The club has a process and you can appreciate this is a massive football club.

"So they have to do their due diligence on everybody. There's a process and I am involved in that. When the time is right they will announce the new head coach."
