Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles says the players are desperate for manager Rafa Benitez to stay.

Benitez is out of contract in the summer and it is not yet certain that he will stay.

"We'll try to do anything we can to seal this manager down to a contract," said skipper Lascelles. "If that means us getting the job done and getting as safe as possible, then excellent.

"We'll just concentrate on our football and let the rest take care of itself."
