Newcastle United target Joel Matip is to hold crunch talks with Schalke manager Andre Breitenreiter over his future at the Veltins-Arena.
Newcastle boss Steve McClaren is keen on strengthening his backline this summer and the 54-year old has eyed Schalke star Matip as his primary defensive target.
It is believed that the Magpies are ready to splash £10million in order to sign 23-year old Matip but Schalke are not keen on parting with the Cameroonian international anytime soon.
As a huge boost to Newcastle's hopes of signing Matip though, it has now emerged that the defender is considering a move to St. James' Park and will now hold crucial talks with Breitenreiter regarding his future in Gelsenkirchen.
