Newcastle boss Pardew upset with Remy: Cabaye takes the pens!

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew was upset with Loic Remy after their thrashing of Stoke City.

Pardew says Remy should never taken his failed spotkick in the first-half.

"I'm still disappointed with the penalty taker. Yohan takes our penalties. Loic said to me at half-time he didn't know that so John Carver [assistant manager] was getting it in the ear, that's his fault 100 per cent," the Newcastle manager said.

"So we had a little conversation at half-time about being professional and doing the right things. Then in the second half we get another penalty (which Papiss Cisse scored for their fifth goal) but then of course, the game was done.

"In all seriousness it was a crucial stage of the game and I really didn't want Loic to take that penalty if I'm honest. He hadn't scored for a little while and that's not natural for him. He might argue he's a natural penalty taker but not for me.

"But let's not get wrapped up in that because it was a great afternoon for us because second half we couldn't have done the job any better really."
