Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has made a personal check on PSV Eindhoven fullback Erik Pieters.
The Daily Mail says Pardew watched Pieters again on Sunday as he tries to revive the £6million deal.
The 23-year-old left-back gave a man-of-the-match display as PSV won 3-0 at Ado Den Haag.
Afterwards Pieters said: "I'm open to this step, it seems a great challenge.
"But if it fails, I am not disappointed. My agent must report to me when it is really concrete. I have not heard yet, so I wait."
