Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is adamant Fabricio Coloccini will not leave this month.
The Argentina centre-half has asked to be allowed to return to South America because of "personal problems' believed to be connected to his wife's health.
But Pardew said: "We will speak with Fabricio this week and resolve the situation. Hopefully we can iron out any issues we have.
"Of course we want to keep him because he was excellent today. He's a very important player and you could see from the reaction of our fans how much he means to us."
