Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew was pleased with Shane Ferguson's showing in defeat to Everton.

Pardew, though, revealed the teenager has more to work on off the pitch than his technique.

He said: "He is so slight at the moment.

"We are trying to do the steak and milk trick and every other carbohydrate we can get into him to fatten him up a little bit."
