Newcastle boss Pardew delighted for Ameobi over World Cup success

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is delighted for Shola Ameobi as he looks forward to playing in the World Cup with Nigeria.

Newcastle host Norwich as the Premier League gets back in full swing after the international break, and Pardew wasn't slow to single out Ameobi in particular for his efforts for club and country.

"I don't think he will go to another World Cup and it is fantastic for him and Nigeria are lucky to have him," said Pardew.

"He is a top top player. He is in form and could be a surprise package in the World Cup who will do well on that stage.

"Shola has been fantastic for this football club in more ways than one. I don't know about an ambassadorial role for him. He could be Prime Minister with his personality."
