Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has confirmed Hatem Ben Arfa was fit for defeat to Arsenal.

The Toon manager kept his assessment on Ben Arfa short and sweet after the Frenchman posted messages on social media saying he'd been left out of the squad 24 hours before the game.

Pardew said: "He's fit but I pick the team to try to get a result."
