Newcastle boss Pardew backs Tevez as Man City captain

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says it was a good call for Manchester City to make Carlos Tevez captain.

Many have questioned the decision, but Pardew enjoyed working with the Argentine at West Ham United.

He said: "It will help them because Carlos is a player who you can't help but like.

"As a player when I had him at West Ham, he gives everything for the team when he plays and players love that.

"He's a good person around the dressing room. There was obviously an issue they needed to resolve and they have obviously resolved it, so that's really good news for Manchester City."
