Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew admits some of his stars have been unsettled by the summer transfer window.

The likes of Cheick Tiote and Yohan Cabaye were the subject of intense transfer speculation.

Pardew said: "Have one or two of our lads had their heads turned in the dressing room by transfer speculation? Possibly.

"Probably the manager is the last to know. I've heard rumours here and there and I try to ignore it but it's certainly a factor.

"When the window shuts, there's a bit more clarity in the mind of players.

"You tell them 'You're here now until January at least, so get your a*** in gear'. That would be the message not just from me but from every manager."
