Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren is eyeing Benfica midfielder Filip Djuricic.

The Serbia international is available from Benfica after a disappointing six-month loan spell with Southampton last season.

Newcastle actually expressed interest in Djuricic in January before his move to St Mary's.

McClaren knows all about the midfielder from his time with FC Twente.

Djuricic, 23, enjoyed three successful years with SC Heerenveen, where he attracted interest from Manchester United.
