Newcastle boss Hughton: Tiote has been outstanding

Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton is delighted with the way Cheik Tiote has handled his Premier League move.

Hughton is not surprised Tioté has impressed, although the speed with which he has adapted to new surroundings and a new style of football has been a major filip.

"First time I saw him playing was a few years ago in Belgium for Anderlecht, about three years ago," Hughton told The Journal. "Then he went from there to Twente. I have known about him for about three years and seen a bit more of him in the last couple of years.

"He has been outstanding for us. With his type of personality, he has come in fairly quietly and the type of player he is, he has just gone about his job in a very quiet and very efficient way. I think he has been outstanding.

"Sometimes it takes time for a new player to get used to the system and so on. In Holland, he did not always play, he played in a system where they had other players playing in that system so sometimes it can take a little bit of time, but I am delighted for him that he has come in and hit the ground running and really enjoyed the Premier League."
