Newcastle boss Howe: It's still results over performances at the moment

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has warned his players they're not yet safe.

There is now a 10-point gap between the Magpies and Burnley in the last relegation place but the Clarets have a game in hand and will face Newcastle on the final day of the season at Turf Moor.

After beating Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday night, Howe said: "It has put us in a stronger position but I still think we have work to do. The home games are key for us but we want to pick up points wherever we go.

"I think with the type of game it was it was easy for us to lose shape and discipline and commit too many forward. I think the discipline and responsibility we showed was really good.

"At this stage of the season, it is about results. We are well aware we need to continue to get points."

Howe does not want to get to drawn into perfecting the playing style he wants to use at Newcastle. From day one he has stated he would like to play on the front-foot, but he said: "I think it's results over performances at the moment. There will be a time when we can evolve."
