Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is keen on Everton's Brendan Galloway.
Reports suggest that the Magpies boss is closing in on a loan deal for the promising Toffees defender as he looks to strengthen his defence before this weekend's Championship clash with Huddersfield Town.
Benitez is keen for cover for Paul Dummett at left-back and wants Galloway, 20, in a season-long loan deal.
With Leighton Baines fit again, and Bryan Oviedo ahead of him in the Toffees pecking order, it could be a clever move for Galloway to link up with former Liverpool boss Benitez at St James' Park.
The Daily Mirror reports that Newcastle will pay a seven figure fee for Galloway while footing his full salary.
Title favourites Newcastle were beaten 1-0 by Fulham in their season opener on Saturday and will be keen to bounce back when the Terriers come to town this Saturday.
