Newcastle United have made a move for Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan.

The People says Newcastle have slapped in an £11million bid for Rolan.

But Bordeaux have rejected the Magpies' bid for their 22-year-old Uruguayan striker.

However, the news from France is that the clubs are not too far apart in their valuations, and a deal could soon go through.

In fact, Bordeaux coach Willy Sagnol is already looking for a replacement for the man who was his leading scorer last season.
