Newcastle United are looking to move for Celtic captain Scott Brown after talks regarding a contract extension fell over.
The Scotland midfielder, currently sidelined by an ankle injury, is believed to have agreed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Hoops but discussions have broken down after a fee for Brown's advisors could not be met.
The Magpies are now looking to offer Brown a pre-contract in January so they can pick him up on a Bosman next summer and avoid paying in excess of £4million for his services.
Brown has previously said that he is determined to stay at Parkhead in a bid to bring the club success but this recent news indicates not all is rosy in the East of Glasgow.
