Wigan Athletic are ready to hand Leighton Baines a bumper new deal to ward off interest from Everton and Sunderland.

Boss Chris Hutchings plans to reward the £6million-rated left-back with a fresh contract despite the fact his current one has two years to run.

Hutchings said: "We would like to offer Leighton a new contract."
