New Southampton manager Nigel Adkins has outlined the scale of the task ahead of him at the ambitious League One club. Adkins left Championship outfit Scunthorpe to take charge of the side currently 22nd in League One, and has revealed that the Saints' ambitious owners are targeting a top-10 place in the Premier League.
"It's a magnificent challenge and what we want to do is take this football club, get promoted, be the best team in the league and get ourselves promoted from the Championship," he told the Daily Echo.
"Ultimately, the end vision is to make sure that we're in the top ten of the Premier League.
"That's the vision that this club wants."
