New signing hits Liverpool hat-trick in friendly rout

New signing Trey Nyoni is already flying for Liverpool.

The midfielder, 18, joined the Reds last month from Leicester City after a long tribunal hearing.

Nyoni turned out for the U18s yesterday as Liverpool thrashed Southend United 10-0 - with the new addition scoring a hat-trick from midfield.

Nyoni, who turned 16 in June and is an England U16 international, made his debut along with fellow new arrival, centre-back Amara Nallo, in the 6-1 Premier League Cup defeat at Crystal Palace last weekend.

Reds coach Mark Bridge-Wilkinson told liverpoolfc.com, "We scored some excellent goals and it was nice to see the work we've been doing on the training pitch really pay off.

"Trey got his first goals in a red shirt, he will take a lot from that, and it was great to have Ranel (Young) back. Fair play to Southend United as well. They never gave up even with the high scoreline, they kept working hard and we thank them for coming to Kirkby."
