New Real Madrid coach Ancelotti: I must thank Everton

New Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has thanked Everton after leaving Goodison Park this week for Spain.

Ancelotti spent 18 months with Everton before this week's resignation.

He said, "I have to thank Everton, where I was very happy during the one and a half years I was there. The atmosphere was positive and the people were hard-working. I'm back with more experience, I know Real Madrid very well, the squad and I've met some of the players in the past. We're going to do well.

"You have to try to improve every day. I've had positive experiences in Germany, Italy and England. Each experience makes you grow and I'm coming back with six more years of experience. I hope it'll be good for Real Madrid."

Ancelotti also said: "I remember La Décima as a massive success because that season was very good. We played well in every game and also in a very tough final against Atlético. I remember the night at Cibeles perfectly, it was incredibly enjoyable.

"I know that the fans are together with the team and I want to send them a message that I'm very happy to be back."
