New QPR boss Hughes will keep Barton as skipper

Joey Barton will remain as QPR captain revealed new boss Mark Hughes. The former Manchester City, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers boss will begin to strengthen the West London outfit as they fight against the drop but that will not include demoting midfielder Barton.

"Joey's the captain and I see no reason to change that, as we speak," Hughes told QPR Player.

"Obviously, I'll be having conversations with all the players and understanding the dynamics of the team.

"But it's not my intention to take the captaincy away."
