New Everton manager Benitez posts lengthy open letter to fans: A privileged opportunity

New Everton manager Rafa Benitez has posted an open letter to fans from his personal website.

Benitez was named Blues manager on Thursday.

He stated: "I have the pleasure of communicating, officially and through our website, my return to the Premier League, my favourite competition, to lead Everton. It is a privileged opportunity.

"Merseyside has been my home for the past 17 years. Our commitment and involvement with the city, with Scousers, has been total, regardless of the colours and that is why I would like to thank Everton for this opportunity to be part of a competitive, ambitious club, which I join, along with myself. work group, with all the enthusiasm and dedication that has always characterised us in all the teams in which we have been.

"Everton are striving to be a better team. Just competing and staying in the Premier League is not enough for them. I share that ambition and that determination to succeed. Both myself and my coaching staff have maintained the philosophy of achieving the maximum objective with the means that we have had available.

"And we have achieved it in most cases, there are the results. And to achieve this we have relied on a methodology that is based on effort, competitiveness and the ability to work as a team.

"For our part, we are going to put, as always, our knowledge, experience, ability, enthusiasm and energy to make the team able to compete at the level that this ambitious project and this city deserves.

"Above all, I believe that we all come from a hard experience of 18 months of a pandemic that has affected us at all levels, also in professional football.

"I think we have suffered a lot, we deserve to be able to enjoy football again and to be able to get together again in a stadium to watch our favourite sport with our own. I think that is what is really important.

"Professionalism, dedication and success have earned us the respect and affection of many hobbies in various countries, I hope the same will happen here, in my city, at home and that we can all celebrate some success as soon as possible.

"I join an ambitious club, looking to the future, to try to make a competitive team that we can be proud of.
