New England Revs coach Nicol ponders Premiership option

New England Revolution coach Steve Nicol admits he's often asked about players by his former Liverpool teammates. "It's quite easy to keep in touch to be honest," he told liverpoolfc.tv.

"There's always something happening and most of us are all involved in football anyway. In my case they might phone to ask about a player in the MLS or if something has happened with someone else, so I speak to a lot of the guys a fair bit.

"There's Big Al (Hansen), Kenny (Dalglish), Beards (Peter Beardsley), Barnesy, Kevin McDonald - I'm still in regular contact with lots of the boys.

"The only thing is that I don't get to go to the games like they do. I think the last time I was at Anfield was for the Marina Dalglish match. That was three years ago now and it feels like three weeks!

"I'd like to get back to see Rafa (Benitez) and the team in action but with my current job it's simply not possible."

On the prospect of eventually working in the Premiership, Nicol adds: "I've no idea if I'll manage in the Premier League.

"It's easy to say I will but you don't know. I do my best every day that I come to work. If things happen then great, if not then that's fine too.
