Neville: Blame this for LVG sacking mess. Man Utd now have best manager in world

Former Manchester United captain Phil Neville says the mess around Louis van Gaal's sacking can be blamed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Van Gaal was sacked two days after winning the FA Cup

Neville said: "We saw it with the sacking of David Moyes. It can and should have been done better but maybe the constraints of the stock exchange means it's the only way it could have happened. There is no easy or right way to sack someone and obviously it took some of the gloss off the FA Cup win last Saturday.

"The problem in this country now is there is no way to keep something secret and this has been talked about for six months. It was almost inevitable really that this would happen and it's just a shame that the story broke on the day of the game."

Jose Mourinho's appointment was confirmed this morning and Neville says it's a great move by his old club.

Neville, speaking exclusively to Carlsberg, declared: “What Jose brings is success. Nothing is guaranteed in life but everywhere he's gone he's brought success. I don't see how that would change now. He's a great appointment and United have now got the best manager in the world. He won't be scared of managing at Old Trafford where there is a big expectation to win trophies. He will do that."

Phil Neville met England fans at The Three Lions pub in Manchester as part of Carlsberg's 'Pubstitutions' campaign. Read the full interview with Phil Neville here including his thoughts on how Rashford can have the same impact this summer as Owen in '98.
