Navas eyes European glory with improving Man City

Jesus Navas is of the belief that Manchester City have a real claim in this season's Champions League.

The reigning Premier League champions are back in top form domestically and their most recent European outing saw them take down German giants Bayern Munich 3-2.

City require a win over AS Roma in Italy on Wednesday to progress to the Round of 16 and if that can be achieved, Spanish midfielder Navas suggests it can act as a catalyst for a successful run in Europe's premier club competition.

"If we can get the result we need in Italy then it can certainly be a springboard to further European success," he told Sky Sports.

"We've got a good enough squad to be fighting on various fronts for silverware this season but first of all our minds our fully focused on the job at Roma.

"Hopefully we can get the result we need and then we will look further ahead at the rest of the Champions League campaign."

Navas added: "We certainly have a squad and a team that is good enough to progress and go a lot further in this competition."
