Nathaniel Clyne was back in action for Liverpool U23 last night.
The England right-back has missed the entire campaign after picking up a back problem in pre-season.
His last appearance came against Tranmere in July but he returned to training last month.
Clyne was named in the U23s starting line-up for the Premier League Cup clash with Middlesbrough.
A 3-1 defeat to Middlesbrough saw Liverpool U23s eliminated from the Premier League Cup at the last-16 stage on Wednesday.
Boro striker Mitchell Curry netted twice - either side of a goal from former Liverpool defender Tom Brewitt - to knock the young Reds out at Bishop Auckland's Heritage Park.
