Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret highlighted Gigi Buffon's performance after victory over Juventus in last night's Coppa Italia final.

Napoli won in a penalty shootout after scores finished 0-0 in Rome - largely thanks to an inspired Buffon between the posts for Juve.

Meret declared afterwards, “Gigi is still the Number One, he proved that tonight with three or four huge saves. It's an honour for me to play against someone who was and is still my idol, so that makes it all the more special.

“The coach makes his decisions, I wanted to be ready when called upon and I am pleased with my performance.

“We brought home the Coppa, which was one of our objectives, now we have to maintain this spirit, try to climb the table and keep it going."
