Nagoya Grampus striker Josh Kennedy has confirmed he is fit and will be available for the World Cup.

The 27-year old former Karlsruhe man has been out of action for his Japanese club in their past two outings because of a back injury but has eased the fears of Socceroos supporters, saying that it is just a niggle and he will be firing come June.

"There are no problems for the World Cup," Kennedy said. "It was more a precautionary thing to let my back settle down and get a bit of treatment and give it a bit of a break.

"I decided to have a few days rest just to let my back calm down. I felt a bit restricted with the tightness but I am back at training so I'll be back this weekend to play."

Kennedy understands just how tough the Socceroos' group for the tournament in South Africa will be but says any opponents at the World Cup would be difficult.

"It wouldn't have mattered what group we were in or who we were playing," Kennedy said. "It is a World Cup so it is always going to be tough.

"If we can repeat the same effort as we did at the last World Cup then I think that we would be doing a fantastic job. Every team in the group thinks the same thing - if they can progress it would be a good achievement.

"We are capable of making it past the group stages but we will have to see on the game days how we shape up."
