N’Jie: ’Progressive’ Tottenham can allow me to emulate Kane

Clinton N'Jie has revealed his reasons for choosing Tottenham in the summer.

The 22-year-old Cameroonian forward joined Spurs from French club Lyon for £10million in August, shunning Champions League football to join a club competing in the second tier of Europe.

Ahead of potentially his first start for Tottenham, in Thursday's Europa League clash with Monaco, N'Jie spoke of his decision to come to North London rather than stay and fight for his spot at Lyon.

"I watch a lot of the English league and Tottenham is one of the big clubs in England so I watched them play and saw a lot of young players like Harry Kane, and also Erik Lamela and Nabil Bentaleb," said N'Jie.

"That's one of the reasons that made me go - I could see how progressive they are and the manager (Mauricio Pochettino) is."

He added: "The coach here brings up very well young players and you can what from Harry Kane did last season.

"Some other young guys that are doing well for themselves this season so that was one of my reasons to come to England and get a bit of progress and continue my career in England."
